The role of the AIEO is to support students, families, staff and the wider community, helping to create a welcoming and inclusive environment at Orelia. This includes promoting engagement with and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and history across the school and community.
Charmaine Yates is our Aboriginal and Islander Education Officer, dedicated to supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and strengthening connections across our school community. A proud Whadjuk Noongar woman with Yamaji heritage, Charmaine brings cultural knowledge, care and a strong sense of belonging to her work. She is passionate about building positive relationships and creating a safe, respectful environment where all students feel supported and proud of who they are.
